PTG Heavy Industries, part of the UK-based Precision Technologies Group, will be displaying one of its acclaimed Powerstir Friction Stir Welders at the forthcoming 13th China International Machine Tool Show (CIMT).

As first-time exhibitors at the biannual event held in Bangalore, the precision machinery group naturally expected a reasonable degree of interest in its technologies. What it wasn’t prepared for, however, was well over £7 million in potential orders.

At ComVac Hannover 2013, leading screw and rotor technology specialists, PTG Precision Components, will present their full range of ultra-precision components and manufacturing capabilities for organisations across the compressed air and vacuum industry.

With the division’s machine sales topping £10 million during 2012 – an increase of 30% over the previous 12-month period – customer appreciation of the inspiring engineering solutions that PTG Heavy Industries provides is clearly reflected in sales.

PTG Precision Components,the screw and rotor manufacturing technology division of PTG, attended Istanbul’s MAKTEK Eurasia machine and tool show then Nuremburg’s Chillventa refrigeration and air-conditioning show.

The order is for a Zenith 400 Helical Profile Grinder – a model launched by Holroyd Precision Ltd. at EMO Hannover 2011 and the company’s first machine to embrace all three grinding technologies: aluminium oxide, ‘diamond hard’ plated CBN (cubic boron nitride) and vitrified, dressable CBN.

North West based Holroyd Precision Limited, a world leader in the supply of precision gear, thread & rotor grinding and milling machines, is to receive £2.8 million from the Government’s Regional Growth Fund.

PTG Heavy Industries, part of the UK-based Precision Technologies Group, have secured orders for two of their innovative Powerstir Friction Stir Welding (FSW) machines from leading organisations in the Russian space industry. Scheduled for delivery in early 2013 – and with a combined value in excess of £2 million – the orders provide an exciting new market opportunity for PTG. The machines in question will be used for jointing various metals, including aluminium, aluminium alloys, steel and titanium.

Precision Technologies Group (PTG), the UK-based specialists in high-precision machine tool and component design, build and supply, have appointed Neil Jones, 44, as Group Business Development Director.
